WHO WE ARE

Mazingira na Jamii Afrika, a Kenyan community-led social enterprise, focuses on restoring degraded tropical forests, vital ecosystems, and implementations of UN-SDGs. We champion conservation, sustainable use of community resources, and empowerment through indigenous knowledge. Our programs centre on climate change, landscape restoration, and sustainable development, fostering justice, equity, and integrity. Bridging disciplines, we empower global communities to lead in nature-climate solutions. We maintain autonomy, acting as advisors and partners, emphasizing ecosystem restoration using indigenous trees, capacity building, renewable energy, circular economy, and storytelling. Join us on this transformative journey.

OUR PARTNERS

Mazingira na Jamii Afrika offers a distinctive approach by focusing on Africentric solutions to address the triple planetary crisis—Pollution, Climate crisis, and Biodiversity loss. Our beneficiaries, including communities along the shores of Lake Victoria, benefit from our targeted initiatives to combat species extinction, driven by industrial pollution and deforestation. We uniquely activate financial resources within communities, tapping into indigenous/local solutions, such as biofuel production from local feed stalks, banana fibres, and water hyacinths, fostering self-sustainability and community reinvestment. Through strategic partnerships with like-minded institutions, we ensure robust monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, knowledge preservation, and effective storytelling. Our vision extends beyond western Kenya, aiming to break down policies into accessible languages, empower frontline communities, and build local capacity to confront climate change effects.
